Boy’s Abyss manga is about the difficult life of teenagers.  A teacher invites Kurose to the career guidance office to talk about his future job.  Since he’s doing well in school, she advises him to go to college. But he needs to look for a job to help his mother, as she is the only breadwinner in the family of four. It is an oppressive home atmosphere, where he alone helps his mother take care of her sick old grandmother.
He changes diapers and cleans up after her. The family has no money, not even enough for food, as his mother spends money on his older brother, an idler. In addition to the problems in the family, he became financially dependent on his classmate, who bullies him. He cannot leave, and there is no hope for a good future. His childhood friend Tyako, on the other hand, dreams of leaving this town, as she sees no prospects in her hometown. She is fond of the pop group Acrylic and wants to go to their concert in Tokyo.
